Anyone on Ajovy for chronic migraines?

Was recommended to me last year by a private neurologist but for various reasons (not least the cost!) I didn't try it.

However, I'm now quite debilitated by migraines do wonder of I should try it

Any experiences?

Have you tried anything else, or has the neurologist suggested this as the first line of attack?

I can't comment on the treatment, I am on beta blockers and a couple of triptans for mine.

Nortriptyline
Metaprolol
Gabapentin
Cbd oil

Knowing how debilitating they are and if you are at the point where they are impacting your life, then yes, I would give it a try if you can afford to.
My neurologist was great, offered me treatment options that a GP couldn't, I was happy to go with his recommendation and he was right. The prescribed tablets allow me to function.

Have you tried going through your GP for a neuro referral? Then get ajovy on nhs. I’ve just completed a course of Botox (not successful) and have been referred back to neurologist. Am hoping that as I’ve tried literally everything (some twice over the 40 years I’ve had migraines) that I’ll now be prescribed ajovy or one of the other CGRP (?) meds.

I’ve been taking Emgality, another cgrp inhibitor for six months after trying everything. Triptans, all preventatives, Botox etc. I inject myself once a month after receiving training on how to do it. It stings for a few minutes and that’s it. There are some side effects mainly constipation but I don’t have any problems. Does it work? It’s not a miracle cure but yes they are better. I’ve even had two weeks x2 of zero migraines. I’m better taking it than not taking it
