Ear noise HELP

I don't know what to do. For a month now I've had muffled hearing and pressure in one ear. I started off trying Otex as I thought maybe it was ear wax. I then went to a recommended ear micro suction clinic. They had a good look and said I had no ear wax at all. Said to see the GP.
GP via phone prescribed a nasal spray as he said 3 weeks of this issue meant it couldn't be an infection and thought the inner ear had a blockage. I also use a sinus rinse. It's currently like I'm standing by a HGV with an engine running, as the sound in that ear is so loud.
Putting headphones in make all sound like a robot. I'm at my wits end.
What do I try next? The GP said go back in 3 weeks. A referral to an ENT could be months. I don't know how much longer I can take the noise ☹️

Has anyone mentioned glue ear, OP? It's possible for adults to get it - I did.

I'm currently being treated for an ear infection with an antibiotic ear spray. I have a rhythmic whooshing sound/beat going on intermittently.

The GP didn't think it was an infection. I wish I had been given ABs, but after all these weeks maybe it's not that.

I'll look up glue ear.

I've developed tinnitus that sounds like a train in the distance. Now I know what it is, I've kind of made peace with it. It's not all the time though so not sure if that could be your issue too?

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 23/12/2021 17:08

Since being peri menopausal I've had tinnitus off and on. I don't mind a high pitched sound coming and going.

This is more a pressure feeling, muffled hearing and almost a vibration feeling. When it's really bad it's like I'm standing by a HGV with the engine running. It's only one ear.
It can feel really uncomfortable. Dr Google just scares me.

Mine started pretty much like that but I don't recall a feeling of pressure. I would think there was a lorry outside the house with the engine running (difficult in a small cul de sac) and would frequently ask DH if he could hear it too. Worse in bed at night when it was very quiet.

Have you had your iron levels checked? Low iron can cause tinnitus. I can hear my heartbeat in one ear when my levels are low.

I need to go back to GP again in January so I can have bloods then if needed.
