Cord like structure in breast?

Hairyfriend · 16/12/2021 19:54

I have what feels like a large cord inside my breast- 8cm long with pinky skin discoloration tracking the cord. GP wasn't concerned on examination, but seemed surprised it was still there a week later and asking what I think should happen now! I'm mid 40's. Anyone had this? Did they have as scan or mammogram? What was it?

Could be a vein but surprised gp hasn’t referred you for a scan

Hairyfriend · 16/12/2021 20:44

GP said it wont be a vein- but couldn't answer when I asked that it was then!?! Advised that the breast clinic would normally only see sinister lumps, but I'd like a scan to know what the heck it is, and if it will stay like this!

I think that should be seen by the breast clinic. The GP should know that not all breast cancers display as lumps.

HalfHolly · 16/12/2021 21:11

If it's a change GP should send you in

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 16/12/2021 21:14

Tell your GP you would like a referral for peace of mind.
I've been to the breast clinic four times now but thankfully it's never been anything sinister. They are absolutely lovely and they do thorough checks. Hope everything goes OK

I had an exceptionally small dimple in nipple and was referred. I would be insisting on referral in your case.

HalfHolly · 16/12/2021 22:43

I had a small dimple too and was referred. There was a benign cyst behind it, found on ultrasound.

Greenmarmalade · 16/12/2021 22:44

Absolutely push for referral. Don’t take no for an answer.

I had something similar was referred. They told me it is aa still there, something that attaches to the nipple. The nipple has lots of strands that surround it like when you draw a sunshine with a circle and lines all around it for the rays.

Best to push for a referral though

It was a funny name...cant remember what they said it was but remember it sounding funny

Nope but mushroom or something sounds familiar I will have a google

Hairyfriend · 17/12/2021 21:20

Thanks everyone. Mondors was the only thing that I could find that described it. I told the GP this too! I'll be speaking to the practice on monday if havent heard back.

I had this... Was referred to clinic... agree it was called Mordon's cord or something similar. They said it was nothing to worry about and it went away fairly quickly.
