Cold/virus for 2 weeks - getting worse!

Just a moan really.
Started with a sniffle about 2 weeks ago. Usually shrug off a cold after a few days but this is a beast!
Feel congested, achey and tired - every day I seem to feel worse! Can't move off the sofa by 6pm.
Have lateral flow tested every other day so I don't think it's Covid but might book a PCR just in case. Hopefully it will shift soon - I've got too much to do!

There is a really nasty cold doing the rounds.
My daughter has been snotting and coughing for over 4 weeks. Her teacher over 7 weeks. My husband - who is a total work a holic and never ever takes time off- stayed in bed 3 days last week.
It's doing thr rounds of all the local schools. I'm assuming it's the same everywhere. Consequence of no mixing last year I should imagine .

Me too! I am on day 10. Started with a viral illness followed by all the cold like symptoms. Every day I wake up hoping to feel more human! Again all negative for Covid. Just a bloody nasty bug doing the rounds right now!!

I've had this for a month now. Just had antibiotics from Dr for throat infection. Didn't see me, asked for a photo of my throat ( not easy!) and prescribed based on that. My granddaughter brought it home from nursery and was poorly for over a month, then son in law, my husband and now me. Sil and granddaughter both prescribed antibiotics too.
We've all had a nasty cough too as well as the symptoms you describe. It just seems to be going on and on.

Grandson brought it home from nursery his siblings then daddy got it then uncle now aunt. They've all been poleaxed by it. Lots of morphing into a bacterial. Infection requiring antibiotics. I'm the last man standing . Husband caught it he hasn't been that sick since his bout of pleurisy

Oh, sorry to hear of so many people feeling rubbish. I'm hoping that it means we will all have had our germ quota and feel amazing by Christmas Day!

My DH had a horrible cold at the beginning of November....and its still not completely gone. He's had 2 PCRs and multiple lateral flow all negative.

How's everyone now?
I'm much better but still getting sinus type headaches every day and generally feel very tired still with little energy. Son in law is the same.

Colds can make you feel worse, or secondary infections can.

Dottydozet · 31/12/2021 10:32

If you have symptoms you're meant to get a PCR, an LFT won't cut it. My stepdad had cold symptoms for over a week and consistently tested negative on an LFT. His PCR was positive.

Some awful ones going round here. You need to rest as much as you can and try to eat nutritious stuff. Everyone that’s had the rough one here recently has come down with a chest infection on the tail end of it. Take care.
