Fatigue

I have got the lowest energy levels I've ever had at the moment, struggling so much to get through the day.

I've been trying not to have caffeine, but that's turned into me relying on sugar and putting on weight, which isn't the end of the world but not likely to be helping me.

I'm trying to follow general advice like doing light exercise, proper meals, supplements including iron, sleeping earlier but it's like nothing will touch this exhaustion. Its getting worse not better. It's making me feel very depressed.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Have you had your iron and vitamin levels checked? Anaemia can really creep up on you.

@Vanishun I have had them checked a while ago and I was anaemic, have since been taking tablets and having it monitored- it's slowly increasing but I've also been feeling more tired? Maybe it's some sort of transition period.

Hmm. How long have you been on them? I think they should be increasing your energy, not knocking it down. Unless maybe you're not absorbing them too well? I wonder if it's worth asking the doctor in case another type of supplement would suit you more?

I'm on iron tablets at the moment and have them on an empty stomach every morning. I've also cut out all caffeine, milk, eggs, calcium (which apparently inhibit iron absorption), and am focusing on more iron-heavy foods throughout the day like beef, broccoli, spinach, beetroot, dried apricots, oranges, strawberries, dark chocolate, and vitamin c. It's having interesting stomach side effects for sure, but my energy has been noticeably shooting up even after a few weeks.
