Hot red rash appearing on ds3's arms and legs, no temp, GP thinks slapped cheek?

Got a call from ds3's creche to say he had an "angry" red rash on his arms and legs. Dh collected him and I met him at home. By then his arms were fine but his legs looked as though they had been burnt and felt hot. Brought him to GP who wasn't sure but thought it might be slapped cheek. But his cheeks have not been red at all lately. He has no temperature at all and is otherwise fine. Anyone else had anything like this?

my ds had slapped cheek last week and it was a flat blotchy red rash on his face and upper body that did look like a cross between burns and nettle rash, it was also hot to the touch. he was a bit miserable for a few days but fine again now. if it is slapped cheek make sure you warn the nursery as it can cause miscarriage in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy.

as far as i know, slapped cheek doesn't really make them 'ill' as such, they just get a rash and maybe a slight fever. hope he gets better soon

not sure if I am convinced that's what it is. It doesn't resemble nettle rash at all. The only other thing I can think of is that we started using a new fabric conditioner, his top and trousers were washed in it but his nappy and vest weren't.

both my dcs had this not so long ago,the rash on the body looks very lacey, my dcs showed no sign of being ill apart from the rash.

Can they have it without the face rash though?

My dd had slap cheek and it appeared over her arms and legs and not her face. Don't be alarmed if it goes and then comes back again in a week or so as it lays dormant and flares up periodically. It wasn't until the 3rd flare up that it appeared on dd's face. Quite common to have a bit of a temp but it looked alot worse than how my daughter actually felt.

yeah and it looks 10 times worse when they are hot, example, upset/fresh out the bath/ hot etc etc

Spoke too soon! He got a big red face this afternoon! Well, looks like I can continue to buy my fabric conditioner from LIDL!
