Hi all, I've suffered from health anxiety all my life made worse by my mum dying from ovarian cancer at 51. I had a baby 5 months ago and suddenly developed tummy issues where everything upsets ny stomach. I then developed hives and just found out I'm suddenly allergic to chocolate. I went to my gp because of the tummy issues and because I've had red blood when wiping 3 times over the last 3 months and also constipation. I feel pressure on my anus all day and it feels like my anus will seal up after I've passed a couple of stools. I had a scope 6 years ago and nothing was found. My gp ordered a fits test and it came back positive at 21. Normal is 10. She's referred me urgently to gastro and I can't sleep or eat. I'm thinking the worse. I'm 35 years and I'm scared of leaving my kids. My mind keeps going to the worse case scenario as anyone with health anxiety will know. I want to go private but that will cost a lot. I feel I should wait on the nhs but I don't know how long I can live like this for. Will someone with the same experience help calm me.
NB: A fits test is when they test for hidden blood in the stool.

If you have been referred under the 2 week wait it will be quicker for you to be seen by the NHS than to go privately.
I have bleeding from my bowel as I have ulcerative colitis. I don't have health anxiety though so I'm not sure if anything I say will reassure you.
If you have the NHS app on your phone have a look at the appointments page as my appointments come upon there before I get letters or emails.
Hope your procedure goes ok x
