Hi,

Just wondering if anybody has experienced any of this or if you could offer any kind words.

My mum for the last 2 months has had acid indigestion/acid reflux, feeling sick and vomiting after eating, on and off stomach pains, loss of appetite to the point she is only really eating soup and very small meals, feeling very full Quickly and swollen stomach. also she has lost weight because of this. She has to have endoscopy in the next couple of weeks but I am very worried about her and what it could be.

Thanks

I’m really sorry to read this. I’m not a clinician so can’t comment as to diagnosis but I would say those are symptoms not to be ignored.
My only advice is to be prepared to advocate hard for your mum if you feel she is being fobbed off at any point of that things are happening too slowly.
Has she had bloods taken?

Just to add, it might be worth contacting the endoscopy dept to say she’d be happy to take advantage of a cancellation, there will be a lot at the moment although of course same day won’t work due to the requirement to fast.

@LightDrizzle thank you. Yes she’s had her bloods taken which came back normal and has taken tablets for heartburn for about a month but they haven’t helped at all even after having the dose upped. She has an endoscopy booked but has too have a phone call consultation prior to this which is in just under 2 weeks, so we may not hear back about the results until after Christmas
