Cancelled NHS op

I've been waiting several months to have a surgical diagnostic procedure for an ongoing condition. Today was finally the day.

I've been sat in the surgical unit in the hospital for 6 hours only to be told it's cancelled, sorry, we'll contact you in 28 days with another date.

I am so pissed off.

It quite often this way once winter pressures hit in pre Covid times but it does seem very early for cancellations to be starting.
Our local hospital has already told local GP practices that they shouldn’t send patients in unless they are in urgent immediate need as they are already under pressure.

Last year a family member waited 9 months for an ‘urgent’ op for skin cancer as the referral under the 2 week wait was during the winter period. It’s a terrible situation all round.

I hope when they contact you with a new date it isn’t too far in the future.

Close family member had an Op cancelled 3 times, was finally done recently and was done first on the lost rather than being added to the end. It's so frustrating hope you get a new date soon

That sucks OP. I hope you get your procedure next time. Gutted for you.

Did they not come and explain why? Chances are they either didn’t have a bed or one case was more complicated/longer than expected so they ran out of time.
You will go back to the top of the waiting list though, not the bottom.
