Hi Big Girl I had both mine done at the same time (40th birthday!! Some people know how to live!!) I was also a teacher and I had 6 weeks sick leave but timed the op so that backed onto the summer hol - so 12 weeks in all. Best thing I've had done. It was comparatively pain free but I think I must have a high pain threshold since I've just had Knee replacement and that doesn't hurt as much as expected either
