Lump under chin scan showed nothing

I have a lump that keeps disappearing but then reappearing randomly. By the time my ultrasound was booked it disappeared and there was nothing there. Apparently thyroid looked fine. The lump has turned up again and im getting a bit worried. By the time the GP refers me again my scan appointment will take weeks but probably months like last time. It’s directly under my chin right in the centre, about the size of a 10 p coin.

What should I do? Im 29 if that helps. If it was a lymph node why would it keep swelling up every couple of months. Im confused.

You may have a stone in your sublingual salivary gland duct which may intermittently block the duct or possibly scaring in the duct. It would only show up when it’s blocked and would be quite uncomfortable. May be worth a visit to the dentist who is more likely to be able to identify it than GP.

I should mention the lump is under the skin quite deep but I can feel it with my fingers. So in my upper neck/under where my chin meets my neck.

Spoke to doctor who said it’s perfectly normal for lymph nodes to keep swelling up randomly and it means they are doing their job. That’s it. So I'm guessing that it is a lymph node and I’ll have to just live with it. I’m not ill and haven’t been for a long time so I don’t know why that particular lymph node would be working so hard and so often.
