Hi all! I'm just really upset right now because I appear to have caught a tummy bug and have been having reallly bad diorehha since about 7am. How long does it normally take for this to take its course? I have a huge phobia of sickness so I'm just finding this so distressing 😢
I haven't fancied anything to eat all day but it is still happening!

Be happy it is just diorrioah (Excuse my spelling, can never manage to spell that word! lol) and not vomitting. I once caught a tummy bug and had liquid diorrioah for 10 days!! Sorry OP I have emetaphobia so I get your anguish. But if its coming out the bottom end, I do not mind. I just stick to a BRAT diet. Banana, white rice, applesauce and dry white bread toast...and if no appetite I do not eat...its fine to go a few days with out food. Just stay hydrated...buy dyrolite sachets from the groccery store or boots....it has the right balace of salt and sugars to add to your water to keep you hydrated. Good luck!

It's diarrhoea but is very unpleasant. Keep drinking lots of water. Avoid all dairy (milk, cheese, yoghurt, cream, butter etc) Have bland foods such as pasta, toast, crackers.

I've had 2 Granddaughters here this weekend who have both vomited a few times - duvet and pillow of one kid had to be thrown away, the rug from the bedroom too.

Yikes, hope you feel better asap. It sucks to be sick when kids are sick too. When I had that lasted 10 days, I caught it from my son because I shared a drink with him....after that I never shared drinks or food again with my kids...and ive avoided all bugs since :) knock wood!! It was awful, as my daughter then caught it not great having two kids home for 12 days because they arent allowed back in school until 48 hours free of diarrhoea and then not feeling great myself.

Stay away from dairy as the PP mentioned...even after you feel better because its hard to digest for a week or two after tummy bugs.

I had a similar bug recently, it lasted for 3-4 days sadly but I wasn't sick and didn't even feel nauseous, it was very much my intestines! It wasn't as intense as a normal 24hr vomiting bug but did keep me home bound for a few days.

Aww thanks for the replies.
I feel a lot better today after a rough night, I expect the D to carry on for a day or so because when my tummy gets upset it normally takes a while to be unstelled. I've not eaten for a good 36 hours... not sure what to have! Starting to feel a bit hungry!
God that was bloody awful though 😰😰😰😰😰
