Feel like I can't go to GP...

...about headaches that I've been having since August because I've recently told him that I suspect I am autistic and asked him to refer me for an assessment. I also told him that I want my tubes tied as all contraceptives give me an annoying side effect so asked for a referral for that.

Because I've already asked for 2 referrals I feel like I can't take up any more of his time.

Also it's a tiny practise, he is the only GP and there's one nurse so I feel like his time must be so stretched.

The headaches are really getting me down, they make me tired. I used to think that they were due to a lack of sleep but my youngest sleeps through now so I'm getting enough sleep but headaches are still here. I get them about 5 days out of 7.

Oh no, please do go! That's not too much help to ask for. Headaches are absolutely horrible and you deserve help with them. I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. Thanks

Go to the GP! You are being illogical!

Riverlee · 03/12/2021 07:50

Please go. Getting that many headaches isn’t normal, and you’ve eliminated what you thought was the cause and they’re still happening.

The doctor wasn’t think badly of you for having another appointment. They’re rather you sort your headaches out, then suffer in silence.

It's probably worth getting an eye test if you haven't had one recently OP because the GP may well request/recommend that.

Doesn't mean you need to wear glasses, but just to check your eyes are healthy and no cause for the headache from the eyes.

The Gp would firstly ask you to have seen an optician. So I would get an eye test then speak with Gp.

We get people with armfuls of referrals so don't worry!

Thanks everyone.

I wear glasses and they are up to date.

There are so many possible causes, and it could be very easily treatable. Please do go!
