Mole removal from buttock

I've had a blue nevus mole on my bum I think since birth. Have just been advised by derm to have it removed. This was a shock and have reluctantly agreed to be pencilled in at a delayed date in the spring.

As far as I'm aware it's a rare location for this type of mole. Is there anyone who has had this surgery on their bum before?! I'm not worried about the op but really anxious about recovery, how am I going to sit? Will I even be able to sit in the car to go home?? I have a toddler and baby to care for so really worried about it (although DH could take some time off work of course).

I have had 2 removed recently and still have the stitches in. I had proper stitches, taped over and was told to be careful sitting down and no bending. I use a cushion in the car to position myself. It’s been fine so far. Hope this reassures you.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply! I wondered whether it was too niche a topic to find someone MN who had been through it! Although my research suggests cellular blue nevus are actually commonly found on the buttocks. I hope you're making a good recovery and it's really reassuring to hear from you. Is it painful to sit? Are you taking pain relief? How is your mobility? I'm so sorry for the questions and feel free to ignore obviously. I'm very anxious about it as you can tell. I take it the op itself was not painful with the local anaesthetic? Were yours also just taken out as a precaution, where they also cellular blue nevus moles out of interest?

I would get a small rubber ring to help with the sitting.
