Hip pain at night

For the last four weeks I've had hip pain that wakes me up in the early morning. It came on a few weeks after I had a mirena coil removed. I also had a pretty bad period, so I'm not ruling out hormonal upheaval.
The pain is generating from my left glute down into my left hip and thigh. To try and help the pain, I sleep on my right or have been trying to sleep on my back with a pillow in between my legs. I've been using Voltarol 12 hour gel in the morning and before bed, and doing glute bridges etc., to try and ease it off, but nothing is helping.
I've had two appointments at a private physio who said it is glute medius tendinopathy. I've got a GP appointment (over the phone) on Wednesday -I've been waiting for this for the last three weeks. Has anyone had any similar experience to this, and if so, what has helped them? I'm not able to run at the moment, and doing gentle walks on the flat, gentle pilates and yoga.
