Magnesium Sulphate paste - Can you get it over the counter in Chemists?

If so, any success stories with it.
Got a horrendous infected sebaceous cyst(but not ready to burst) on my upper thigh, along the knicker line. GP prescribed fucidin cream but it's crap. Due to see him again for a review in 10 days or so. Hoping I wont have to have antibiotics or surgical intervention.
Wondering if I will be able to speed things up with the paste.
Anyone else had one? Please share your eruption stories with me.

I used it several times on ingrowing toenails and it works brilliantly. You can get it over the counter

I don't want to suggest this is safe or a good idea, but have you considered sort of sticking a sterilised pin into it? To release, you know, the nasty stuff?

Please ask someone sensible/qualified first, I am probably dangerously ignorant

jalopy · 16/12/2007 19:03

It's not near enough to the surface, twinkly.

have you tried really hot flannel pressed on it?

must be other methods of drawing a spot out

i had something from kiehls, ages ago, that was supposed to do that

jalopy · 16/12/2007 19:07

Well I've had lots of hot baths and even placed a hot water bottle over the area.

THere's no such thing as "not near enough to the surface" in my house. There's no spot/boil that can't be squeezed using brute force.

It makes the explosion all the more satisfying if it has to errupt through unbroken skin.[I'm an expert on such matters[bleurgh emoticon])

wikipedia recommends heat pad twice a day for 15 minutes a time
