Hair falling out

Hi there I'm 17 and experiencing hair loss of some sort, I'm used to some hair loss as I have bleached hair and thick hair however this is different for me personally. I recently lost a lot of weight from not being very well and also have found out I have a folate deficiency which I have been taking folic acid for. For the last two months or so but I would say the last two weeks excessive hair lost this may not seem a lot of hair but that was just on the back of my jumper from walking around today and if I run my fingers through my hair loads are just coming out, My diet could definitely be better but I'm just wondering what else I can do to prevent this from continuing, I just don't want the embarrassment of my hair all on the back of my clothes all the time.

Is your iron low? My hair gets thinner before I need topping up.

I have the same OP. It's iron, folic acid deficiency. Are you taking supplements?

It seemed all good when I went 2 months ago, I'm just worried because of how much is falling out I was worried it was because my hair is damaged and bleached but it's coming from the root I just don't know what I should do to? X

@Valhalla17 I'm taking folic acid but that's all that was low on the blood test x

I would recommend taking a hair, skin and nails vitamin supplement. I've seen some improvement in mine from this; I'm also using a Boots shampoo and conditioner designed to stimulate the scalp.

Your illness might have triggered this - I hope you're better now. You've mentioned improving your diet which should help.

The hair in your photo does look quite dry, so I wonder if breakage is contributing to the issue. I use a Garnier Hair Food mask after washing to try to minimise breakage.

Hopefully this should right itself once your body returns to normal, but it wouldn't hurt to try shampoo/conditioner and supplements.

@ArblemarchTFruitbat at first I thought it was just because of the damage but it's coming from the root when it falls out so I'm not sure but I will definitely try out what you've suggested!
