Best home Massager

What is the best hand-held massager you have tried? I am looking for something that is really really good. DH has back problems, now pain migrated to his shoulders. He goes to masseuse from time to time, but it is so expensive.
Is it something you can recommend? Thanks

DH had back problems which responded well to deep massage from a physio - he taught me how to do it during lockdown. I'm not sure if a machine would really do the same job of feeling out and working on the knotty spasming muscles.

For shoulders, there's a very effective method which needs nothing more than two tennis balls. If you Google you can find YouTubes etc showing how to do it.

Google trigger point therapy and check out the images/YouTube. Look at where the pain is radiating to and track back to the trigger point. Then use a ball or a theracane to apply pressure on that point. It will hurt (that's how you know you have the right spot) but it does work.
The massage guns seem to be all the rage atm but firm not always most effective. If it's fascia causing problems foam rolling and lighter massage works better.
Also regular stretching

My physio at the end of a session sometimes uses something called a therma gun for the last 10 minutes she says it gets deeper into the muscle than she can when doing a deep tissue massage.

Massage guns go deep and are great, but you need to get a decent quality one. Theragun is expensive but the quality you need. I went for Recovapro which is less expensive but high quality. I am very pleased with it.
