are they getting heavier or lighter as well?

have you been under a more than normal amount of stress for you?

i think i'd see the GP if i were you and he/she could go over some questions with you that might better indicate what's going on.

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 15/12/2007 21:19

how old are you? if ancient (like me) you are probably perimenopausal (ie going haywire before you hit the menopause proper). if not ancient have no idea!

charliecat · 15/12/2007 21:21

Im 28 they have been getting shorter and shorter for years, and now they are every 20 days.
I seem to be bleeding , then going greasy/spotty which I used to get before coming on once upon a time.

hmmm,ok thanks...wonder if they will want to prod...

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 15/12/2007 21:42

god, don't you get so SICK of the prodding?

ffs, if i had a dime for everytime i've been prodded i wouldn't have to bother with the damn Sat. night lotto!

i think at first they'll just ask you a bunch of questions about your cycles, though.

charliecat · 15/12/2007 22:08

Ok...hope so, cheers

Well, good, because I'm still watching you .

bandgeek · 24/12/2007 09:27

Just curious, did you ever go to the doctors? My periods have been coming every 3 weeks for the past few months and I am a mass of hormones and spots. Most annoying!

I can't get an appointment until well into the New Year.

PrincessSnowLife · 24/12/2007 09:43

This is probably not very helpful (and it is most definitely not based on anything medical) but do you know what, after being on MN for nigh on a year I have come to the conclusion that sometimes our cycles just change for a bit for no apparent reason. I too have had weird changes to my cycles over the years (shorter, longer, heavier, more painful, you name it) and I have lost count of the number of threads I've seen from mnetters with similar problems (and that's just in one year). I've been to my GP about it more than once but they can never explain it. Since I am otherwise healthy I've decided to stop trying to understand it and assume it is just part of growing up old.

But do check with your GP obviously. We are all different and our bodies will do different things for different reasons.

Hi,
A good friend of mine started having periods every 2 weeks, this went on for 2 years and she had every test going. The doctors put it down to a hormanal problem and suggested she went on the pill to regulate her cycle. Apart from the fact it was costing her a fortune in tampons she permanantly menstral. Then she split from her bf, moved house and her period went back to normal almost instantly. She didn't think she was stressed but perhaps her emotions were having an effect on her hormones. Anyway, you should go to the doctor, I just wanted to let you know your not the only one it's happened to.
Good Luck

I got my period on CD18 (usually 25-28 day cycle) and was freaked out esp as ttc. Went to gp and she was so not bothered. She said she would be more concerned if it had been going on for a while. She said sometimes we get a freaky cycle
