48 hours of antibiotics and throats still feels like swallowing broken glass and still feel rough, when should I feel improvement?

I’d it was me I’d expect to feel better. If it’s liquid meds use the medicine spoon provided not a metal tea spoon. It took me ages to realise why my antibiotics were lasting so well.

Gargle every couple of hours with salt water, it tastes horrid, but really helps

Normally 3 days before you'll start to feel better from my experience.

Gargle with soluble aspirin

Get some hydrogen peroxide from the chemist and dilute as instructions and gargle with it. It's bloody magic. I ended up not being able to take the antibiotics after a while as was given them so often and a lovely pharmacist told me to do this when I broke down in tears to her as couldn't even swallow my own saliva.

Poor you. Sounds like either it's viral and the anti biotics aren't going to work or the wrong type.

Were you seen in person to be diagnosed? If by tomorrow you feel no better at all Is get back in touch with your GP

I wasn't seen in person, it was an out of hours phone consultation, but I will try and get an appointment tomorrow if it's no better. I have peroxyl mouthwash, I'll try that, have been using saltwater but not regimentally. Haven't had tonsillitis since I was a child - I forgot how awful it is, I feel for you having recurrent tonsillitis. Thanks all!
