Boobs hurt

My boobs are really painful.

I've just come off my period and yesterday my right boob was really sore. I first noticed it when my husband went to hug me yesterday morning.. it felt more nipple related then the whole of my breast.

I ended up taking some paracetamol last night but it doesn't seem to have helped much. This morning they both feel achy.

I've checked my boobs for any lumps and cant feel anything that doesn't feel 'normal'

Do you think its something to worry about? I don't usually get breast pain at all even around my time of the month.

Take a pregnancy test to rule that out. As you’ve just finished a period it’s very unlikely to be that but sometimes people have bleeding at the beginning of a pregnancy that they mistake for a period. If both breasts are sore it’s likely to be hormonal. But I believe you can also get infections in the milk ducts and things that are painful even if you’re not currently breastfeeding.

Have you recently changed up your contraception? That can have an effect too. If you’ve not got any sign of infection (fever, tiredness etc) and no worrying lumps I’d wait a few days to see if it calms down. If you have any signs of infection or anything else that’s worrying you could book a gp appointment and ask someone with some medical knowledge. (I’m not a dr, just someone who gets sore boobs regularly from hormonal changes)
