What can this pain be - roughly where my right ovary is?

Good evening!

All today I have had a pain roughly where my right ovary i so quite low down. It can be quite sharp and makes me wince at times. Throughout the day it has been bothering me and sometimes goes away.

What could it be? My cycle is a bit messed up at the moment so I think I am over half through my cycle. I am sure it cant be an ovulation pain as I use to always get that, this is more painful and sharp.

My partner had appendicitus (spelling and his scar is a lot higher than where my pain is plus he said that if it was that I would be screaming in pain.

Just a bit worried as to what it could be?

I get this sometimes. Dunno what it is but it usually eases after a few days. It could be OV pain or you may have strained yourself.

I would wait a few days and see if it eases off.

Had this, after 6 months of trying to solve it, the gynae decreed that it was a twisted colon, or something like that. It's in the same sort of place as your ovary and apparently quite common. The pain is where it spasms.

ah - straining myself could be it!

I do lift things alot with my job.

I did forget to mention that sometimes when I turn over in bed at night I get a shearing twisting pain in that area and I did think of a twisted muscle but not a twisted colon? How did you treat this?

He gave me a muscle relaxent, it can be caused by stress.

Mine was like a sharpe jabbing pain, right about where my ovaries are. And sometimes if I moved quickly it would kind of twang, is the only way I can describe it.

Melodies · 14/12/2007 21:59

Yes - thats just like me!

Hopefully it will go away by itself.

Thanks

You could try peppermint oil, that is also supposed to work, mine went on for ages but,the things the gynae gave me made it go away.

Don't dismiss it being a grumbling appendix.

My brother ignored his, putting it down to too much dairy as he has a lactose intolerance, and it was his appendix. He even drove himself the 50 miles to hospital (he is in rural New Zealand) and he is a GP so should have known it could be more serious!!
