Flipping heck, its knocked the stuffing out of me, does it feel more severe than a usual cold for anyone else?

It's horrible, my 17yr old dd just had 10 days off school with it, she never gets ill , with this she just lay on the sofa and ended up on antibiotics as it progressed to a chest infection, it's the worst cold she's ever had.

Yep. TWO flipping weeks I was poorly for. Totally sucky.

This is absolute hell! I know I haven't had as much as a cold in 18 months + but this takes the biscuit!
In the past 24 hours I've been through 2 boxes of tissues and 3 loo rolls just wiping my nose!
Massive headache I can't get rid of, my whole face hurts, a nasty cough, fever that comes and goes, loss of taste and smell, and I'm struggling with my asthma now too!
Really hoping to feel better soon! This feels so extreme, but I've read that our immune system is suppressed when we're pregnant so maybe thats not helping much!

I even booked a covid pcr test yesterday because I'd lost my sense of smell- negative.

Really doesn't feel like any cold I've had before!

My friend had what seems like the same cold with several lateral flow test and pcr tests all being negative. She also ended up on antibiotics for a chest infection and was sick for much longer than I’ve ever seen her be sick for. Get well soon OP xx

I had the awful cold. Got over it then caught Covid. Jeez that was bad.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/11/2021 23:37

Hope you feel better soon OP

I'd get another couple of PCRs before you rule out covid with those symptoms.

It took both me and my DS 4 tests to get a positive.

Colds always k ock the shit out of me. Spent half my adult life with no voice in December.

PickAChew · 20/11/2021 23:49

And we are all going to be whacked by non covid stuff because our immune systems haven't had regular updates. This is why flu jabs for over 50s and vulnerable groups have been heavily pushed.

lisaandalan · 21/11/2021 00:06

I had that cold then caught Covid after I will be glad when I finally feel normal again. X

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 21/11/2021 07:35

I have it too and I feel absolutely shit. I've had absolutely no sense of taste or smell for 2wks now and my head is still pounding. Nasty cough and the amount I've blown my nose is unbelievable.

My DP (who I'm sure gave it to me after catching it at work) just had a 3 day cough and some sneezing. My 1yr old had high temps just at night for 3 days and sneezed a handful of times, yet I've been feeling like death for over 2wks.

I've had the flu jab (and obviously double jabbed for Covid) so I think it's just down to being pregnant and my immune system being a bit crapper than usual.
