Feeling Nauseous (Not pregnancy related)

Reflections2021 · 18/11/2021 20:04

Hello,

I have been going through stages over the last several years when I will have phases of days and weeks, where I feel nauseous. Never got to the bottom of whyConfused. Sometimes wonder if it could be related to iron levels, and have recently started using a magnesium spray on my skin - to no avail.

In the past the odd blood test here and there shows a tendency for low iron, and one showed low in vitamin D but other than that not much to report. In the last year or so started to take blood pressure meds, and that’s not had any impact on my bouts of nausea so don’t think it’s related to my BP.

Any other ideas - would love to get to the bottom of it?

TIA

Do you have gastric issues? Try keeping a food diary and see if you can identify any triggers, or it could be stress related?

Reflections2021 · 20/11/2021 21:57

@Winebefore5 I generally don’t have gastric problems, but will try keeping a food diary. Don’t feel overly stressed at the moment, although life is always quite hectic.

Can I ask how old you are OP? I got this some days during latter stages of peri-menopause!!

Blinkingbatshit · 20/11/2021 22:11

I’ve felt nauseous for the last 8 months - on endoscopy they found my small intestine is sending bile up into the stomach rather than down & out….. I hope you issue us more easily solvable!!

Reflections2021 · 21/11/2021 23:08

@Dontsayyouloveme I’m mid 40’s. Been debating if I could be peri, but not linked the two. Will look into this some more.

@Blinkingbatshit not heard of this before - out of interest what was the treatment to resolve the issue?

Do you feelike you're having any issues with balance?

Reflections2021 · 24/11/2021 01:25

@Coffeeonmytoffee I’ve not experienced any issues with balance.

I have this. They're testing for issues with liver, gallbladder and I believe appendix. Have you had them test anything?

Aquamarine1029 · 24/11/2021 02:03

My vote is it's peri-menopause. Hormonal fluctuations can make you feel sick, just like in pregnancy.

Dontsayyouloveme · 25/11/2021 00:19

Reflections2021 could very well be peri then. I’ve been known to heave over certain smells over latter couple of years of peri, like another post said, exactly like in pregnancy!

Twoweekcruise · 25/11/2021 11:09

I suffer from the same. I am 48 so probably perimenopausal too. I am also anaemic and never thought it could be related to that?

Reflections2021 · 30/11/2021 21:24

@Rtmhwales not had them test for anything. With all the suggestions re Peri, think I’m going to look into getting a test to identify for sure. If it’s not that, then will explore some of the other suggestions. Thank you!

I had this and for me I discovered that the problem was caffeine. I can't remember how I worked it out.
I stopped having caffeine altogether but now have one coffee a day and sometimes a tea as well. Interestingly I had two coffees the other day for for the first time in about three years and felt sick later. ( I'd actually forgotten about the coffees and only remembered when I was trying to work out why I felt sick).
