Mouth Grinding

Hi

I grind my mouth so badly I'm in pain and have to wear a mouth guard at night. The dentist have said I'm wearing away my teeth and wondered if anyone else has managed to combat this habit. I'm grinding day & night now. Thanks

Bumping as I'd be very interested in finding out too! I clench rather than grind though and have jaw pain on both sides because of it

Botox in your jaw muscle! Means you can't clench/bite down as hard, it has been a life saver for me

Fluffysocks88 · 23/11/2021 16:52

Thanks for the reply @winnie19. Was your pain bad before you had the botox?

LynetteScavo · 23/11/2021 16:57

Where do you go for Botox in your jaw muscle? I've never heard of this.

More of a constant dull ache where I would be constantly clenching during the day and grinding at night but this really helped!

I go to a clinic in london but any medical professional qualified in botox should be able to do it, it's very quick and practically painless

My mouth guard genuinely changed my life within the space of a week. Is yours not helping? They can create different types to suit different types of grinders

Fluffysocks88 · 23/11/2021 18:53

What kind of mouthguard do you have @Dobbyhasnomaster?

Dobbyhasnomaster · 23/11/2021 19:01

@Fluffysocks88 it’s just the soft mouth guard that is made to fit your bite by the dentist on the lower set of teeth. I think it was around £150. All the headaches, neck pain and everything went right down and it was easy to get used to.

Botox. Absolute miracle. I pay a doctor who has clinics across the country who also does my migraine botox.

My face and teeth don't hurt anymore, i used to chew through a thick mouthguard a year and hopefully I'll be able to see the difference as I used to crack out my fillings.

tadpole73 · 27/11/2021 23:25

I've been chewing through mouth guards both soft & hard, but don't fancy Botox

I grind and clench too and my teeth are wearing down- how much is the Botox treatment btw

I tried a mouth guard on top but didn’t get on with it the feel of it seems to make me clench harder. I’m. going to try on the bottom teeth

I had 3 sessions of acupuncture recently and that helped, my headaches have gone
