Vitamin D, help please?

DH is low (not deficient) in vit D and has helpfully been sent a letter from the GP telling him to buy some. I am hesitant as DH has had a Whipple's and has some of his pancreas missing, he also has cancer in his liver (he has cholangiocarcinoma). He hasn't seen a GP or oncologist face to face in a year. I know his ability to absorb the nutrients in his food is affected by his surgery and he is on Creon (enzyme replacement). He is due to see his oncologist in four weeks time and we are hoping to speak to the GP but in the meantime I am nervous about him taking a supplement with such little support from the medics. Before his diagnosis a year ago DH was clinically malnourished but no-one seems to be keeping an eye on him now, he has no dietician input, no input of any kind really. Does anyone know if not taking the vit D will do more harm than good? I have tried calling his specialist nurse but she never calls back.

I wouldn’t risk it either. When dh had Hoskins he was anaemia but couldn’t take iron so I know where your coming from.

I’m sorry he’s ill.
