What is this rash on my arm? With pics

I’ve woken up today with a weird patch on my arm. It feels a little tender perhaps, but not extremely so, it’s not raised and it doesn’t feel any different to the surrounding skin. It’s a stretch, but my MIL just had shingles, could it be related to that? I exist in a permanent state of sleep deprivation and feeling a bit sub par (crazy toddler and various other dc) so I don’t feel noticeably unwell bar a slight headache. Dd had just started nursery and had been pretty much ill with one thing or another since September, so if it’s infectious she’s the most likely culprit, but she doesn’t have anything on her skin that I can see. Any wisdom? Forgive the atrocious fluffy blanket

You can't catch shingles from someone who has shingles. You can catch chicken pox from someone who has shingles but the rash doesn't look like either to me.
However, if you're run down and unwell then it's possible that it might be the beginnings of shingles (if you've had chicken pox before?) and it's coincidence that your Mum also has it. All you can do is see if it progresses at all and try to get anti viral meds if it does start to look more like shingles. Doesn't quite seem the right place for it though. I had it on my back in one patch on one side and that was it. It follows a nerve line and doesn't tend to cross over to the other side of the body.
I hope it's nothing and disappears soon.

Thanks @YouBoggleMyMind. It’s funny, my mum has always maintained I’ve never had chicken pox, despite having siblings who have, and when I was pg with dc 2 my first caught chicken pox. A blood test revealed I had antibodies so I must have had it at some point? My mum always maintained I must just be immune Hmm

Youhavenoauthority. I also never had chickenpox and neither has my sister. My eldest had it when I was expecting his brother and had a blood test which also showed antibodies. Like a lot of diseases it's possible to be naturally immune.

Haven't a clue what that is though.

My sister has natural immunity to chicken pox. We all had CP one after the other when my Mum was pregnant with her so maybe she got it in utero and got immunity that was but she's never had it as a child or adult. She only found out she had natural immunity cos they do testing for various different things for vaccinations when she became a midwife.

How's the rash?
