I'm having a laparoscopy in a couple of weeks to get an endometrioma removed. I've been in so much pain and really looking forward to getting this removed. Doctor said to take a day off work but wanted to know how other have got on?

How long was your recovery period. We are also moving house a week after my laparoscopy so wanted to prepare for that and my leave from workplace

Hi @nousernameno

No advice for you unfortunately but I have the suspected same thing. Is there any chance you could share your symptoms with me please?
I'm awaiting an mri to confirm exactly what mine is but the surgeon mentioned this...

Thank you 💜

Oh no. Lucky you're getting an mri. I have a lot of pain on one side (under the ribs and goes down to my leg). The pain is unbearable at times as it wakes me up and doesn't go until I get painkiller (which takes a long time to have an affect). I also have very painful periods

@nousernameno
Thank you so much for replying.
Interesting... I have a lump in my groin that has been causing more pelvic/period pains than usual. This also causes pain in my thigh and makes it hard to walk!
I have suspected endometriosis and upon my ultrasound the doctor mentioned it so I have assumed this is what he is thinking...

Hope your operation goes well and the pain will start to decrease you! xx

I had a laparoscopy for endometriosis - they removed a cyst, and lasered a lot of adhesions. I was off work for two weeks and one week of that was bed rest. It was ten years ago now, and i can't remember all the details, so it may be that yours is a lot less invasive than mine, but i would think more than one day of might be helpful. I was in hospital overnight. Hope the surgery goes well and you make a speedy recovery, it was a gamechanger for me.

I had this done… you’ll need to take it easy for a few days. I think mine was mid week, so a few days off plus the weekend and back to work (desk job). My cyst was quite small and I had my ovaries drilled (PCOs and TTC). I had that weird bloating to start with and then I remember it was more achy than painful.Just don’t overdo it too quickly.

I had this in 2011. My endometrioma was around 5cm and they also dealt with deposits elsewhere. I think the idea of a day off work is optimistic - I took two weeks off work and needed it all. It was very difficult to walk, for at least week afterwards. It could be that I wasn’t typical as I needed a drain fitted as well as the lap. incision, but the recovery was longer than my (later) crash C-section, for example.

Good luck! I hope the surgery gives you a good bit of respite from symptoms.

Had two laps for endo and definitely, definitely take at least a week off. Also wouldn't be moving and lifting stuff the week after - the pain from the air they pump into you can be disabling, and the obvious surgical inflammation.

Hope it helps x

I had a lap for endometriosis was supposed to be a day case but kept me in overnight as I was in so much pain (carbon dixoide gas releasing through shoulders they pump yr tum full of it) also when I went for a wee nothing came out, I had the urge to go but my bladder was being lazy they said so kept me in. I was in pain all night in the hosp with the shoulder pain.

I had 5 days off work as I got abit of an infection in one of my tummy incesions ( 3 in total). Also I bled, no one told me that you would bleed after either.

Everyone is different but just be aware
