What will help my sinuses?

I think I've got blocked sinuses on one side of my face.
My face aches, it all hurts from my upper jaw to my temple.
What can I do for some relief?
Took some paracetamol this morning and last night but it's not doing much/anything.

Sudafed?

Gatekeeper · 15/11/2021 06:16

Ibuprofen, heat pack

Google 'sinus draining' for pressure point relief

purplesequins · 15/11/2021 06:17

decongestant nose spray.
a hot compress to the area that hurts.

once it's a little better a nasal rinse with saline water (neti pot or similar)

I feel for you as its misery making

Cocodamol is the only medication that’ll touch my sinus pain. As someone else said applying heat to the sore area offers some relief and also try steaming your face, that sometimes works. Hope you feel better soon, it’s such a painful thing

Try ibuprofen tonight but really the only thing that really cures mine is sudafed

We are seeing a lot of this at surgery.

Beconase spray is the best first step.

Eloisedublin123 · 15/11/2021 22:06

And spirulina tablets (health shop)

I'm just getting over sinusitis. Ibuprofen was much better than paracetamol at relieving the pain.

I was also advised to do saline rinses (I got a spray one from the chemist).

Decongestants may help although I understand you can get a rebound effect when you stop taking them.

Steam can help.

If it's still going after 10 days book a doctors appt as you may need antibiotics.

Any eye swelling contact doctor immediately as could be medical emergency.

RavingAnnie · 15/11/2021 22:18

Oh doctor also gave me a steroid nasal spray.

Mrsjayy · 15/11/2021 22:33

Yes I've had a steroid spray in the past, I had an awful sinus Infection 3 or 4 years ago I had to have antibiotics, now I'm on the sudafed as soon as I feel the pain coming on,

Pseudoephedrine (the stuff from the chemist, not the stuff on the shelf), painkillers, cold compress/ice pack in a cloth to shrink the blood vessels down, saline washes at body temperature with boiled water.
