Hi! Yes, anxiety can make you very unwell. I started taking medication nearly a year ago for anxiety. I've had ups and downs but it's still feel pretty rough. I think it is because I have been anxious for a very long time and it is quite severe.

OP take the drugs. They do help.

See if you can get booked into a talking therapy too. You can probably refer yourself.

And do stuff that helps. I find meditation on the Headspace app really helps. Also going for walks alone.

Also swimming is brilliant. I actually prefer running but swimming totally dials down the anxiety.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi! Im soo sorry your feeling that way still :(
I was actually going to start swimming as i used to do so much exercise and now i dont do any!
Im hoping that my ear stops ringing so i can chill abit!
Im gonna have to take them because im gonna just ruin my life!!!
I have been going to hypnotherapy! Which i feel amazing everytime i leave!

Did you get any physical symptoms with anxiety ? X

I get chest pain, headaches, dizziness, trembling, constipation. I've also had some abdominal pain which may be something else but It's probably anxiety.

Get to the pool, OP. There is something about swimming which really helps.

I have physio for dizziness. It is literally just staring at an X in the middle of a sheet of paper while moving my head around while keeping my eyes fixed on the X. Did it 3x daily for about 3 months and it worked. This was the advice from the Balance Clinic at a major hospital.

Starrr123 · 15/11/2021 06:37

Do you move the sheet of paper with you? And by moving your head is it in a circle or just side to side ? Sorry i wanna get it right . Im soo glad it worked for you!!!! Xx

You keep the paper still and hold it at arms length in front of you. You move your head side to side and up and down. Apparently it is best to do it standing up rather than sitting down.

I'm not surprised it hasn't been mentioned. I trailed round to numerous doctors for about 2 years before anyone suggested this.

Starrr123 · 15/11/2021 08:31

@dizzydizzydizzy thankyou! Ill start giving that a go :) hope it works! What was causing your dizzyness? Was it the anxiety? X

My GP thinks anxiety is the cause.

autumsdayss · 15/11/2021 17:16

@Starrr123 you sound like me!
Honestly I have severe health anxiety and it is ruining my life. My new symptom is dizziness every single day. I have pains in my stomach, diarrhoea, pins and needles, palpitations. This all started a few years ago when I had an abnormal ecg and it set me off, apparently the ecg is normal for me and I've had all other tests mri, bloods, X-rays and everything is normal. Now gp says anxiety. I was prescribed citalopram which just made me worse so stopped taking it, but I totally sympathise with you, it's a horrible thing to have

autumsdayss · 15/11/2021 17:17

Forgot to say, I also started having panic attacks where I actually thought I was having a heart attack, I was trembling, chest pains, felt like I was hallucinating. It was awful

Starrr123 · 15/11/2021 17:21

@autumsdayss so sorry to hear your going through this!!! Thats why im scared to start it! Was the major panic attacks when you was on the citalopram? It really sucks :(
My ear ringing is giving me anxiety!!! Im hoping it atops soon! Xxx

autumsdayss · 15/11/2021 17:25

It's awful isn't it, but it helps me to hear other people feel like me!
I had a major flare up of my health anxiety and this is when I started having f panic attacks, the dr then put me on citalopram after the panic attacks but it caused tremors and pins and needles, I don't know if it was the medication or just my anxiety because I have it so bad, but I just couldn't cope and stoped taking it. I really think I need to try something else though as it is ruining my life

Hetyanni · 15/11/2021 17:26

I am on 20mg of Citalopram for anxiety. My advice is do 1 or 2 weeks on 10mg then up it to 20mg. Start today, they will make you feel better but bear in mind people often feel a bit worse before they feel better so you need to push through that part to see if they are for you. Good luck!
