TMI Blood in poop

I’m 35. I’ve noticed a bit of bright red blood in my poop the last few weeks. The poop is normal consistency but with small streaks of blood mixed throughout.

I’ve had a bit of tummy pain but I have ibs so that’s nothing unusual. I plan on speaking to my gp tomorrow. Any ideas what could be causing it? I had a colonoscopy 5 years ago which was clear. Is the doctor likely to refer me for another one?

!! Could be haemmorhoids

Inside fissures cause bright red blood too. Tell the GP definitely.

Thanks for the replies. I spoke to the gp this morning. He’s sending me out a qFIT test which is a test to check for blood in stool. I don’t really see the point in this since I can actually see the blood.

They need to judge what kind of blood. Is there older blood in there which would indicate an issue further up the digestive tract etc. Better to do a proper test if not for peace of mind only.
