Vaccine and TTC

Hi guys.

Im going to get vaccinated tomorrow and just slightly worried. Me and DH have been TTC for over a year and I have heard several people mentioning fertility issues relating to the vaccine. Now I know there's a lot of untrue things etc.

I'm just anxious about it to be honest. So wanted to know if there are people who have had the vaccine and still managed to get pregnant ? Also there's different vaccines and how do you know which one to take? Do you decide for yourself? Is there a specific vaccine for different age groups etc?

Why not post in the coronavirus topic. You will find more answers there

dementedpixie · 14/11/2021 08:18

P.s. AZ is only offered to people 40+ so it would be one of the other vaccines if you're under that age. Will depend what's available on the day of your appointment

yummymummy1230 · 14/11/2021 08:22

@dementedpixie maybe because I didn't know there was a coronavirus sectio. 🤔

I had the AZ vaccination whilst TTC. I came on my period 5 days early that month (about a week after the vaccination) but then fell pregnant the next month without trying. I think we only DTD once a few days before ovulation, then didn't again for 2 weeks due to DH having a cold sore that took over half of his top lip so I was keeping my distance from him!

I was shocked but overjoyed when I got the BFP. I'm now 32 weeks, healthy and bump is growing nicely.

Good luck!

@Pitstop1986 Awww wow congratulations !!! That makes me feel better lol. So many people kept telling me not to have the vaccine as affects fertility it just makes me so nervous.

Well I wasn't well so didn't get it done. But booked in tomorrow now. I think I'm be getting the Pfizer as that's what's available. Wish me luck I really hope I get my BFP soon!

There’s no truth to it. There has been a number of miscarriages and stillbirths due to covid though.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2021 21:14

Who is telling you that the vaccine causes fertility issues? I would bear that in mind when you’re trying to weigh up if they’re likely to be correct. I would bet they’re not doctors.
I’m guessing you have had other worries about the vaccines since you’re not done yet?

Being pregnant and having covid is a really, really bad idea. Good luck tomorrow-you’ve made a great decision to get vaccinated now.

abbs1 · 14/11/2021 21:18

We started TTC after my 2nd AZ vaccine in May and conceived 2nd cycle after in July. 23 weeks pregnant now no issues with baby so far.
Wishing you the best of luck in getting your bfp soon hun.

yummymummy1230 · 16/11/2021 20:16

I got the vaccine today. It was the Pfizer.

Fingers crossed I get my BFP soon. Tbf ever since the covid vaccine was rolled out there's been so many different rumours. An ofcourse it does get alot of people worried etc. But I'm glad Iv done it an it's out the way.

I hope you get your BFP soon!!

If you don't, it won't be anything to do with the vaccine! It has been totally debunked. Not to mention the thousand of babies that have been born to vaccinated women!

Sorry I can't give you links to relevant studies, but there have been plenty

Don't delay your second jab, get as protected as you can, Covid is a huge risk to you & the baby in pregnancy!

abbs1 · 16/11/2021 20:28

@yummymummy1230 dont stress too much if your cycle slightly changes. Mine did after my 1st jab period delayed by 3-4 days or a few days early the next cycle but went back to normal (3cycles) when my 2nd jab was due and had no changes after 2nd jab.

Jonesy88 · 16/11/2021 20:53

I had my jab on the 14th May and got my BFP on the 31st May. Like you we had been trying a while. Sometimes I wonder if the jab helped!

yummymummy1230 · 16/11/2021 20:57

Thank you I really do hope I get that BFP!!
I have already booked my second jab for January.

My periods are quite irregular anyway so won't really make much difference tbf. I also was thinking the same about the jab helping because I have seen a lot of posts on mumsnet about women who were TTC an after having the vaccine they had their BFP!! So I have my fingers crossed an everything else crossed haha.

My husband and I had had two rounds of ivf due to husbands past cancer. We both had the second vaccine and got pregnant within a month.

My friend had three miscarriages and then got pregnant a month after the vaccine and is currently 23 weeks.

A second friend had an ectopic and then had the vaccine and got pregnant two weeks later and is also 23 weeks.

In my experience if anything it helps fertility. There's no truth to it reducing fertility. There have been studies that it improves sperm count. Covid on the hand does cause problem.

yummymummy1230 · 18/11/2021 14:14

@Bells3032 Wow that's given me a lot more hope thank you.

Well fingers crossed that this month I get my BFP!!
