sort of feels a bit like a mouth ulcer coming up on the side of my tongue...

but doesnt look like an ulcer, and...

as the day wears on it feels like my tongue is all heavy and achey and the feeling is travelling down the tongue and filling my mouth.

was like this last night too, but ok when i woke up so i forgotabout it.

feels like when youve been to the dentist and had local aneasthetic in one side - all cumbersome and hurty and heavy.

whats going on??

(am nappiesgalore in disguise btw, not that that has any bearing on matters im sure)

come on, somebody must have had this... or know what it is... is my tongue going to fall out or will it magically disappear in the next hour or so?

Sorry I don't know oddometer, I think I would go and see my gp if this happened to me. Hope it all turns out fine

poor you, i dont really have a clue sorry. Sometimes i get a pain in my tongue right at the back if i am going down with something, or even if i get a migraine. It really hurts, like you say, like an ulcer but nothing there. I put it down to a gland or something.

I wonder if the achy heavy feeling of your tongue is because it is playing on your mind>??

See how it goes, if its not gone by monday, go to the doctor.

This is no help to you, but you've reminded me that when I was a child, I used to lie in bed and be really aware of my tongue. Not that it was hurting, just that I could feel it IYKWIM. It's very distracting when you're trying to go to sleep! Oh and my eyeballs too - that was even worse.

I had something like this in the run up to Christmas last year. Went to doctors, tried a variety of things but Corsodyl mouthwash sorted it out within 24 hours. Available at chemists.
I was a bit run down at the time - plenty of fruit and veg might help too.

We used to always say it was a tastebud coming off, don't know what the medical term is but i often get a wee lump on the side of my tongue, it goes away after a few days.

oddometer · 13/12/2007 17:14

Does it feel a bit like you've burnt it ? The sensation, not the pain?

I had something similar a while ago and have had it a few times since. But when I get it my tongue looks a bit 'patchy' in places.

My doc called in another doc and they said it was 'geographic tongue' and not to worry!

popsycal · 13/12/2007 19:55
