can't help you on the nails - I still struggle

have you got a bath support? makes them less wriggly with great ear access

Epaderm is good for dry chapped lips - not sure if good for a baby tho?

I've not really helped much have I - hopefully someone more knowledgable has more words of wisdom!

Vaseline is good on lips coz its so thick.
Plenty of soap and bubles on the ears, and make it into a game.

As for the nails - I was never any good with nails, i would bite them (and am doing so with my four month old)

camillathechicken · 13/12/2007 09:16

nails... nibble them off with your teeth when he sleeps.

i wouldn't worry about cleaning his ears too much, when you wash his hair you could use your fingertips to give them a little rub clean. although at 4.5 months, without eating food, without moving, he is not going to get that dirty1

for sore chapped lips..vaseline? an emollient cream? ask local pharmacy

shrinkingsagpuss · 13/12/2007 09:20

you're so funny - "when he's asleep"... ha ha ha ha. I gave up on that game v early on, DS used to wake up the minute I put his fingers near my mouth!!

camillathechicken · 13/12/2007 09:22

my children could sleep through a ten finger nibble

i cut DD's finger with the nail clippers when she was 2 days old, so i did not use them again until she was much much older

meepingaroundthechristmastree · 13/12/2007 09:29

i cut dd'd fingers with the nail clippers.....twice . I use scissors now!
my nail clipping time is at her 10.30pm dream feed when she's still v sleepy and less prone to arm waving - I get a cople of fingers done each nigt!

bumbly · 14/12/2007 08:53

and forgot to ask - how on earth do you put nasosal??

keep going in eyes or ears and not in nose

and if in nose it just dribbles down into mouth

argh!!!!!!!!!

re ears, just do with the corner of a muslin while he's feeding - one ear per side.
