Hi there, me and my mum moved into this house about 4 or 5 months ago, and the last month or 2 we've had an outrageous amount of mould all over the walls, we know that there is an issue with the roof as it has been leaking through which the land lord said he would sort out when we first moved in, we had an inspection last week and complained about the mould issue as food is going mouldy we can't use any cupboards shoes you can't leave out and my mums has asthma, I read that after two weeks if nothing is done your able to leave or file a claim but we do have a tenancy agreement that doesn't run out till the end of December will this affect us being able to leave?

Assuming you’re in England or Wales your first port of call should be writing to your landlord to request the repair is completed in x timescale (2 weeks would be reasonable). I would then speak to Environmental Health at the council as they are the ones with the power to enforce repairs. Speak to Shelter and get advice on leaving your tenancy early, it’s not always possible and needs to be done in the right way otherwise you’ll remain liable for rent.
