Does anyone know what this mark on my leg is called?

I've never posted a picture before so hopefully it will show up. I've got this red blotch on my leg. I've had it for years and kind of forgot about it until the other day in the bath when my daughter asked what it was (obviously I had no privacy) and it got my wondering if it's anything to worry about or just one of them random things. It used to be raised but now it's totally flat. Apologies for the hairy legs I've not had a shower yet but I've mean meaning to take a picture for a few days so of course everytime I do have lovely smooth legs I forget. Thanks

I have these. A few on my arms and legs. My mum said they are just fatty lumps and harmless. My grandad had them apparently. So I've never worried about them.

If you've had it for years it's unlikely to be harmful. It'll be some sort of nevus or mole, just keep an eye on any changes in it, if it gets bigger, itches, or if the edges become irregular or it grows etc then get it checked out. Or if more grow alongside it, or anything else weird mention it to your gp

Obviously it's not, but it looks identical - red bump and all. Mine hasn't changed in 10 years and GP seems unphased.

I have exactly the same on my leg! It started as a raised flesh coloured lump under the skin when I was a kid, then eventually it flattened and turned a reddish brown colour. I'm in my forties now and it's still there unchanged. I've a vague memory of asking the gp about it when it first flattened but he wasn't arsed.

Looking at your pic it's in exactly the same place as mine too!

I have something that looks very similar on my thigh, saw a dermatologist who told me it's a dermatofibroma.

Yep I’ve got one in almost the same position and had it diagnosed as a dermatofibroma by a dermatologist. Nothing to worry about. Strange so many have them in the same place though!
