Anyone ever had blisters appear on hands and feet?????? Doctor stumped

Its not Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, thank god, and both dds have nothing, but yesterday tiny little lumps appeared on my fingers - a little like warts, with a centre, a little watery filled. (sorry it's yuk) and today I have MANY on both hands, the ones that were there yesterday are bigger and my feet have some too. The ones on the soles aren't visible but I can feel them when I walk. It hurts!! They feel hot and a little itchy/tender.

The doc says prob a virus - (I don't feel ill) and this is the way it's coming out of me) - but he was q stumped..

has anyone else ever experienced this?
i feel like a warty witch!

Are you sure it isn't hand , foot and mouth? You can get it without getting it in your mouth you know? It sounds just like what my ds had a couple of weeks ago which was H,F&M.

spiderbabymum · 12/12/2007 13:24

Do you have eczema? . Could be pompholyx . A type of eczema . See this great website .....Dermnet .
Good luck !

wessexgirl · 12/12/2007 13:26

I had something v. similar a few years back - tiny weeny blisters that were just annoying and a bit itchy. Mine were on hands and feet as well, but weren't H, F & M either. At the time I remember thinking it might have been to do with the heat, as was a hot August, but I guess not. They went away after a week or three and never came back.

'Twas very horrible though; I just felt run-down and grubby the whole time. Sympathy!

WashSantasRedSuitErsaurus · 12/12/2007 13:38

Well it sounds like what I had with hand foot and mouth - I had nothing in my mouth either and was feeling very run down.

WashSantasRedSuitErsaurus · 12/12/2007 13:39

DS never caught whatever it was btw even though H,F&M was going around the nursery at the time

turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 13:44

thanks for your replies. I am googling like mad and have found a few sites. I'm very sure it isn't HFMD, which is very contagious - there is no outbreak in my circles.

I will check out that Dermnet site and I have found that it could be a stress related disorder, or a form of excema, called dyshidrosis

eek

When Ds got HF&M 2 weeks ago dd didn't get it and neither did dp or I or my friend's little boy who he was playing with before the blisters came out and before we noticed the blisters so although it is contagious it is possible for others not to get it.

turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 13:57

oh no i meant dyshidrotic eczema

are you sure it was HFMD then ledodgy?

I am in Singapore and it is a Ministry of Health Matter when someone gets it. People are next to quarantined and schools are inspected for hygiene and closed until outbreak clears! It's all very odd. But my googling shows much more of a link with that type of excema and what Wessexgirl was talking about.

by the way I've never had excema, but do have bad hayfever and allegies to animals, so I am that way inclined, unfortunately

spiderbabymum i think you could be right. not sure where derment website is - there seems to be a few, but this does seem to be what I have. Hot and humid here also, although cooler than in the last 11 months (that I have been here) so seems to all fit together.

docs next to useless, I may go to see a dermatologist

You have diagnosed me!

I had this once on my hands, doc dx contact allergy, but since I have had it on and off on the soles of my feet, unbearably itchy, esp at night.

Thank you!

turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 14:11

oh chubby really?! how long does it take to go?

OP posts:
wessexgirl · 12/12/2007 14:14

Yes, that looks exactly like what I had too! I did put loads of moisturising cream on them; they peeled off after about 3 weeks.

turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 14:16

and were they painful for 3 weeks?

OP posts:
luciemule · 12/12/2007 14:16

sounds exactly what I have regularly with my eczema - it's called pompholyx. They are just watery filled blisters that come and go -especially when hot.I find a 0.5 hydrocortisone cream stops the itching fast and they dry up in a day or so.

ChubbyStuckForAFestiveNameBurd · 12/12/2007 14:17

Ages cos I scratch my feet til the blisters burst - in my defence the pain of a blister is way more bearable than the itching, which is unbearable. I think having read this I'm going to get my GP to give me some betamethasone cream, it's good stuff (drugs drugs drugs!)

turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 14:18

thanks luciemule, i think i have some of that cream, will go and take a look. vinegar isn't so great is it, i smell like a bag of chips

OP posts:
turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 14:25

what's that cream chubby?

i have found some corticosteroid. is that like hydrocortisone? too late now, it's all over me

OP posts:
turkEgyptlets · 12/12/2007 14:30

thanks everyone - off to try and sleep, it's 1030pm here

night x

ChubbyStuckForAFestiveNameBurd · 12/12/2007 14:34

It's just a kind of steroid cream - what you've used will work!

turkEgyptlets · 13/12/2007 00:50

oh good. the itching isn't so bad, i can forget about it, its more tender than itchy. but my feet are burning! much more unbearable on feet, and and now between the toes. ouch. didnt get a great amount of sleep due to children though, not blisters.

hope this soon goes. more today.

Gosh!
You had me sweating about quarantine for a minute!!!
Are you OK?

turkEgyptlets · 13/12/2007 01:28

really! yes i'm fine. Don't worry, if it was HFMD i wouldn't have seen you or sent dd to school!! i promise it isn't no way. it's def this excema thing linked above. I blame it on this country.......another vote against Singapore........

going to ikea..
