Had my last Caesarian 13 years ago!
It felt a bit itchy and sore so I had a look and it’s really red and angry looking. It’s also weeping and the smell is horrendous. Sorry!
I’ve also been getting pains which feel deep behind my scar if that makes sense.

Couldn’t get a GP appt so I’m waiting for OOH to call me. I’ve put sudocrem on, I have 3 days worth of Macrobid (for UTIs I always get) is it worth me taking them in the meantime?

This does not sound good at all. I think I would be heading to hospital. Foul smelling exudate from any wound is not good never mind one that's 13 years old.

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/11/2021 19:53

Macrobid is not the correct antibiotic for that typed of infection.

SWLONDONGAL · 03/11/2021 19:56

I rang 111 at half 3, still waiting for them to callback. Hopefully soon. I’ll attach a pic to show what it’s like

That looks awful OP Shock

RevolvingPivot · 03/11/2021 20:11

Oh no. I worry about this. Mine still hurts 11 years on but I though as it was long ago it would be fine.

I wonder what's caused it? Please get advice.

Best of luck.

Hi op I had this. Went to the GP who immediately referred me to a&e. Was just an infection but they spoke about sepsis etc so scared the bejesus out of me and I'm thankful for that GP every day. I was given antibiotics and ended up having a few stitches re-done/put back in (cannot remember completely, was in that weird post-partum haze)
Can you go to a&e?

SWLONDONGAL · 03/11/2021 20:11

Yep it's v painful and the smell is gross 😢

Sorry op just seen your last c-section was 13 years ago so not exactly like me as I was about 5 days pp. but yeah, the smell
And redness - go to a&e xx

Newcornishmama · 03/11/2021 20:19

I would be going to a and e with that xx

AMostExcellentStick · 03/11/2021 20:29

Is it definitely the actual scar weeping? I get intertrigo around my scar - nothing to do with the actual scar, it’s basically sweat rash caused by the skin fold. At its worst it’s a raised red weepy smelly painful rash. Keeping it very clean and dry helps, if I have a bad flare up then canestan do an athletes foot cream which is a steroid and anti fungal, that zaps it.

Hope 111 phone back soon.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 03/11/2021 20:31

Oh my goodness OP get yourself to A&E! The risk of sepsis alone is high.

FannyFifer · 03/11/2021 20:40

Ooooft, yup, u need to get that seen ASAP. If u think the redness is spreading draw a ring around it to keep an eye, (not on any broken skin).
U got a temp or anything?

IslaPineappple · 03/11/2021 20:43

Oh you poor thing. I really really think you need to go to A&E. I don't think that looks right at all and the bad smell is very concerning.

doodlejump1980 · 03/11/2021 20:46

Please get to A&E - the risk of it turning into something more sinister like sepsis isn’t worth waiting around for. Hope you get it sorted soon. Flowers

KateTheEighth · 03/11/2021 20:51

Blimey that looks really painful

I had problems with my scar for about 6 months post section but that was 17 years ago and nothing since

Do you feel ok in yourself?

FannyFifer · 04/11/2021 18:36

How are things today?

Winniemarysarah · 04/11/2021 18:42

I’m hoping op went to a and e :/
