Private pediatric plastic surgery recommendations

Hi looking for advice as really struggling to find somewhere for my son.
My son is 10. He has a cherry angioma growing on his lip. It pertrudes and bleeds a lot and is growing.
Have been referred to NHS pediatric plastic surgery for removal. Already been 2 months and have heard nothing.

We want to pay privately to get this removed as it's really annoying for him with it bleeding all the time and kids are always commenting on it at school.
We don't have private health insurances but want to pay for this I've made some enquiries at our local private hospitals and no one will do it because he is a child. I've spoken to our gp surgery to explain this but they tell me they can't help with going private. So we are stuck in limbo!

Does anyone know of anywhere in the Midlands that would do something like this for a child?? Thanks so much

Have you googled paediatric maxillofacial surgeons in your area?

PlugUgly1980 · 03/11/2021 12:39

Not child related but I had a similar issue and paid fo see a max fac specialist privately. At the initial consultation he said he wouldn't do the surgery privately without it being paid for by health insurance as he couldn't justify the cost, but instead added me into his NHS case load and got the job done quicker! So the initial £500 consultation was really worth it.

Where are you based? If near or close enough to London contact the Portland in london or look up HCA healthcare which is nationwide and should be able to help you find someone.

@Cantcook842 , did you come back to read the thread?

Cantcook842 · 08/11/2021 22:51

Thanks. Nothing in our area. Very frustrating as no idea of how long NHS wait will be.

Does the paediatric plastic surgeon do private work? If you call their NHS secretary they should be able to let you know. You can then ask to see them privately. You may need a referral from your GP still. .

@SeththeSloth I will try this thank you

Google who he is referred to on nhs locally and see if they also operate privately. You may be able to self refer or need a gp letter.
