Heavy Night Sweats - should I spk to Dr?

I’m guessing it could poss be hormonal (I’m 40) but I have heavy, dripping (sorry tmi!) sweats every night and it wakes me up constantly!

Is it something I should speak to the Dr about?

I am on Citalopram also, which I believe can cause sweats.

Yes.
Probably age related but night sweats can be a sign of something serious and 40 is on the young side for menopause though not impossible.

GoodnightGrandma · 31/10/2021 16:13

I’d post on the menopause section for advice.

It does sound hormonal, I get them when I'm premenstrual but not otherwise. I'm also 40. Could be worth checking in case it's the perimenopause?

paradisebythedashboardlights · 31/10/2021 19:06

Definitely get checked out by a doctor and a blood test.

I presumed night sweats in early 40's were the start of the menopause but they were actually a serious illness, and I would have been better to get looked into earlier.

Probably be nothing serious for you, but better to rule out.

Do you drink much alcohol?

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/10/2021 19:28

I've had this the last two nights on my chest and I will be ringing Tuesday. I'm 44.

I'm T2 diabetic, and if my blood sugars are high during the night, I wake up soaked in sweat.

Def one for your GP.

Thanks everyone, I will call them.

It used to be just a couple of nights prior to my period, but for a while now, every nights, soaked and dripping from the neck down to my lower legs!

@paradisebythedashboardlights I’m so sorry to hear that. Do you mind me asking what you were diagnosed with please?

@GreenLunchBox no, hardly at all! Just a glass of red about once a week, at the very most.
