What is this lump on my hand?

Anyone have any ideas what this lump is on my palm? It appeared quite suddenly a few months ago.

I mentioned it to GP when I was seeing her about something else. She said not to worry about it and it's skin deep...that was a month ago and it's got a bit bigger since then. It's slightly sore.

I've googled it but not found exactly this.

Anyone know what it is?

Ganglion?

Oh! I don’t know what it is, but I had one. It stayed for about 6 months then disappeared again.

It does look like a ganglion. The olden days treatment was to whack it with the family Bible!

I had one for a couple of years. GP not bothered at all. Felt quite hard and was sometimes a bit sore. Woke up one day and it was gone 🤷🏻‍♀️

Olivegreenstrawberries · 28/10/2021 21:17

Oh hopefully it will go on its own then! With no need to get a Bible out!!

Ganglion cyst. I've got one on my wrist which is showing no signs of leaving yet 4 months later...

Also think a ganglion (A synovial fluid cyst that forms on or around a joint) - the old-fashioned treatment was to whack with a huge victorian bible - ouch!
Nowadays they can either be left or if they becone uncomfortable opreated on.

Argh, spelling! Please excuse, as v. tired

Olivegreenstrawberries · 31/10/2021 18:10

Thank you. It's not really bothering me

Ganglion I would guess, but if it’s changed ask GP to reassess.
