Dermatologist or plastic surgeon for mole removal?

Hi all,

My dermatologist is going to remove a large mole from my chest. The scar is going to be really visible. I've been wondering whether I should go to a plastic surgeon instead.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you so much.

iirc plastic suregon is not a protected title
a dermatologist with surgical training should be able to remove a mole with minimal scarring.
talk to them.

Thank you so much. I should say I would be looking into a qualified plastic surgeon, not a cosmetic surgeon, cosmetic surgeons are less regulated where I live

Stay with your dermatologist as they analyse the mole in case they need to remove more from the surrounding area. The scar fades to a fine thin line.

Dermatologist. Buy some Kelo-cote scar gel and use religiously afterwards. It's miraculous

Thanks all. That's a great recommendation about the kelo-cote. I used Strataderm after surgery five years ago and had totally forgotten about it.
