Gastritis experiences?

Hi, so about a week ago I suddenly started getting a gnawing burning pain right in the middle under my rib cage, I can feel it's my stomach. My throat, voice and stools are fine. I was getting over that awful cold and wonder if this could've triggered it, or plant sterols I was on (off them now). I'm belching constantly, the pain is constant deep gnawing it's driving me nuts.

My docs appt isn't for 2 weeks, I've brought some nexus from the shops but they don't seem to be helping. Gaviscon is doing sod all as well and I'm knocking the stuff back.

I'm not worried it's anything serious as it came on fast and has all of the symptoms of gastritis. Weirdly it's not so bad in the morning when I wake then starts getting bad as soon as I start moving about. Nibbling things relieves it briefly.

Thing is I'm going abroad for surgery end of next week and I'll need to be on antibiotics after for quite a while, I'm so angry this has happened.

I get there isnt a quick fix but any tips or experiences on how to ease/speeden up the healing would be great. TIA

sorry no help from me but just wanted to say im suffering from the same and im also not getting any relief from anything over the counter! Did yours just happen suddenly? mine did and I can't for the life of me figure out why... mine has moved down from the middle under my ribs to over my belly button now but still a gnawing pain.

Do you feel hungry not long after eating and have like an acidic type pain aswell?

I’ve had gastritis for three years on omperazole not been put in for any tests , I’ve changed my diet drastically lost two stone, I have awful nausea too not everyday but approx 2/7, non drinker smoker, I steer clear of pasties spices coffee , I had scan was told I have fatty liver, it’s a total nightmare, I’m thinking I really should push for more tests ie endoscopy I actually think that will give me a clearer pic than an ultrasound scan

I developed gastritis after a bout Of norovirus 5 years ago, I had pain all around my torso, back, under the ribs... was hospitalised. They told me what it was and gave me a months worth of omperazole, it took about 3 months to clear off but I get the odd pain here or there and I’ve had GERD since then also.

The nexium might take 2 weeks or more to relieve symptoms.

Have you been tested for h.pylori?
Symptoms are effectively gastritis.

Yes to all of this! How are you feeling now, any better? I’m no better at all. GP has put me on 40mg omeprozole and it’s destroyed my stomach completely now. Not sure what to do next I thought I’d be improving by now

TitoMojito · 01/11/2021 23:38

I have recurring gastritis. No idea what caused it, it just appeared one day and has plagued me ever since. I'm suffering with it right now, in fact!

Omeprazole is what was prescribed to me and it does work. It's not an instant fix the way painkillers are with a headache or whatever, but the symptoms do reduce and after a few days it improves.

It's a total pain though and so unpleasant. I sympathise.
