Blood clots in hands...?

Any ideas what these purple marks are on my hands? They tend to come with a small painful lump. Three on my fingers so far (back and front) and one on my palm. The first three were on my right hand but now one has appeared on my left. They worry me because they look like blood clots (maybe?). They only last about 24 hours so my GP has only seen a photo. He was baffled and blood tests came back clear.

Google suggests blood clots in hands are caused by injury but that's not the case here.

I'm a non-smoker and have no other symptoms other than myriad perimenopausal problems. I'm a bit scared by them, to be honest. Also seeking HRT and worried they will disqualify me.

I sometimes get this. The first thing is a sharp, stinging pain and then the bruise which looks like yours. I have never been to the doctors with it but did some google initial and accepted it was nothing. Looked again following your post. Here’s a link www.google.co.uk/search?q=spontaneous+bruising+on+fingers&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari

Those google results sound exactly what I have. Thank you for your superior googling skills, for knowing more than my GP and for putting my mind at rest so quickly at this late hour. You're an angel Smile

(Another condition of bloody middle-age though. Lovely).
