Plenty of Fluids

I always hear this especially when sick with a cold and I wondered what the benefit was?

Obviously dehydration is bad, and I get that a streaming cold takes a lot of fluids.

But why is plenty of fluids good for you when sick?

I suppose it’s easy to become dehydrated and if you are taking medication I think it’s good for the old kidneys.

If you have catarrh, water helps to thin and disperse it.

If you are vomiting/have diarrhoea, it's easy to get dehydrated, so water will replace your lost fluids.

If it's something else, drinking water will assist digestion by helping to prevent constipation.

If you're taking tablets for your illness, water will help you to swallow them.
