What would be causing my lower leg pain?

Has anyone got any ideas?

It’s been going on three weeks now. Maybe four. Nothing has particularly changed in terms of exercise or diet. Certainly no intense activity that might explain the pain in my shins. No swelling, no heat. Walking really hurts. My ankles hurt although not really my knees. I’m not overweight. I am nearing fifty so I’m wandering about menopause as I hear people talking about odd aches and pains.

I’m sitting in a Epsom salt bath and I’ve ordered magnesium. What else might I be missing? The pain radiates up my shin bone so I’m wondering about osteoporosis. I’m even thinking about bone cancer 🥴

Vitamin D deficiency?

FreeBritnee · 21/10/2021 12:22

I have had two cold viruses back to back. Forgot to mention that. But I’m not sure if that can cause leg pain?!!’

Shin splints? Do you run?

FreeBritnee · 21/10/2021 12:22

I have just started taking vitamin d. So that’s a possibility.

No. I don’t run. I am pretty sedentary if anything also had physical jobs most of my life where I walked miles each day. I wonder if I’m seizing up? I stretched today for a good 10 mins and it does feel slightly better.

Also I wouldn’t say the pain is cramping. It doesn’t fell muscular. I have had cramping pain in the past but this is up the front and sides of my lower leg.

Shins or one shin?

FreeBritnee · 21/10/2021 12:31

Both

I can see there is link to vit d deficiency and tibia pain. I am a complete sun avoider and as I use retinoids I use sunblock on my face daily. I guess there’s a chance it could be that. Sounds better than bone cancer!!!

Have you driven recently? Sometimes when I haven't driven for a while and then I drive, the muscles along my shins can be very sore!

DaxtheDestroyer · 21/10/2021 14:29

Have you ever had your vit d levels checked? I hope it is something this simple!

Marelle · 21/10/2021 14:33

My mum had similar pain and it turned out to be a blood clot that was restricting blood flow.

FreeBritnee · 21/10/2021 15:04

Oh god don’t say that!!! I don’t know if I’ve had my vit d checks alongside a load of tests I had a few years back when i was on bioidentical HRT. I felt like I had everything checked then. We found out my iron was low so I had a transfusion. So I know it’s not iron.
