DS is 6 months he started coughing and spiking a temperature 3 weeks ago. He also throws up (projectile) after 40% of his feeds, especially through the night.

I have taken him to the doctors twice, first time i was told it was asthma second time a virus. When he is sick it sometimes preceeds a coughing fit but mostly he is just sick, retching too until his tummy is empty. He was never sick before.

I am covered in sick most of the time, him too. He is still getting hot on and off.

I'm not a nervous 1st time mommy, he is #6, i have never seen this type of illness last so long. Please someone tell me it is normal and wiil go away?

LVBT I could be writing this post - apart from there is no temperature here. T is coughing ang wheezy and I have had him at the GP three times in three days, and have made another appointment for this evening - will probably get removed from the list. It's so worrying, I had liquid salbutamol from the GP on Friday but he was sick every time he had it so have had to stop it as am very worried about dehydration. I am giving smaller amounts of milk - yesterday he had three ounce bottles only, just four of them, and rather than proper meals, I made him sloppy weetabix for breakfast and tea, and he kept all that down which was very encouraging. Today he's had a breastfeed and a three oz bottle and I tried some weetabix but the coughing and retching started so I stopped as I was scared all the breast and formula would come back up. Little and often is going to be my mantra, and I am going to see if the GP can offer any advice. I'm not sure if his chest is worsening or loosening so I want her to have a listen. I hate using the GP service so much, but I don't ever go usually apart from for a smear, neither to DH or DS1 so I figure I'm having my share now instead. I'm also giving regular calpol and nurofen.

I can't really offer any advice, I've just written all that to offer experience, I would say get back to the GP, B is only 6 months and as you say you are not a nervous first timer! Hope he gets well soon and that you are ok

Thank you IST! I never see the GP either, mainly because every time i go he is useless! I have seen 2 different docs both as helpful as a chocolate teapot.

Beau sleeping now having thrown up last 3 oz feed, i have been expessing so i can see how much he is actually getting. I wonder what the hell it is?

I have had children with bronchiolitis and they were verty sick after each feed but i dont remember the retching. It also cleared up within a week or 2.

Hope your LO recovers quickly. I just hate the fact he looks so pathetic and so wiped out with it all. I cant keep him in either as i have to ferry all the other children round and this week is bonkers with all the activities and plays going on. Poor little thing gets bundled in to the car about 4 times a day! It cant be helping him

Keep posting with his progress, i will too.
