Diarrhoea not stopping

I've had diarrhoea for about a week and stomach cramps but it's not too bad. No other symptoms and the diarrhoea only happens twice a day. I mostly feel fine. Would you go to GP? Or wait it out for a bit longer? It doesn't feel like a bug (no vomiting and mostly feel normal plus not going to toilet frequently) and I'm not allergic to anything so don't know how concerned to be?

I have IBS and constant diarrhoea. If it is unusual for you then get it checked.

Yes its unusual for me. I can't remember the last time I had any kind of stomach upset tbh. Guess I've been lucky!

Any change in bowel habit needs to be discusses with a GP!

go to the gp and they will put your mind at rest/etc and follw their guidnace.

Sorry to jump on your post but I thought if I started one about this people would think I was a poo troll. I had sickness and diarrhoea last night, pretty consistently over about 8 hours. It got to the point that I was actually uncontrollably pooing bile for about three hours as there was nothing else left. Have managed to get loperamide so it’s stopped (but still feel horrid).

Is this ‘normal’, I can’t find any information about it online but I assume it’s like when you’re vomiting and there’s nothing else left.

I think the nhs guidance is to see your gp if you have a change in bowel habits which persists for two weeks. I don’t think it’s unusual to have a bit of diarrhoea for a week. Maybe wait another week before speaking to the doctor.

I had this about 3 years ago. Diarrhorea for 3 weeks even though I was popping Imodium tablets numerous times a day. A pharmacist said I must get it checked out at the GPs. GP took a stool sample and sent me for blood tests, ticking just about every box on the form.

A few days later I was called back to be told I had Coeliac disease and to cut out gluten immediately from my diet. I had never had any symptoms or suffered from prolonged diarrhorea before. After a week without gluten I was back to normal, then my hair went curly and my nails started to grow really strong. I had probably not been absorbing nutrients for years. Gluten makes the villi in your gut lie flat.

My blood test result: Anything over 10 is coeliac, mine registered at 68!
