Will I have to postpone colonoscopy if I’m ill?

Dh and dd came down with horrible colds last friday. Lfts and pcr all negative.

I’m due to have a colonoscopy on Monday afternoon. Day before yesterday, I came down with it too, although, touch wood, not as bad. I did a pcr, got a negative result (took lft as well, all negative).

I also have a pcr from the hospital that I have to do and drop into them tomorrow (friday) morning.

I don’t have a temp, but snotty nose, a little bit of a scratchy throat but it’s ok. Some sneezing.

Will I have to postpone?

It’s being done privately though my insurance so they could probably fit me in again within a month, but it’s already had to be postponed from last month due to some medications I had to be on for something unrelated, so I really don’t want to postpone it again.

I think it depends on whether you plan to have sedation or not. The last time I had one I had to postpone it due to a cold as they said they weren’t comfortable sedating me like that. Do you have the number for the triage or nursing area where you’ll be? Give them a call and they’ll advise you.

I was planning on calling tomorrow. I’m hoping on a miraculous recovery tonight.

I don’t really want sedation. But the consultant and the nurses all said I should, they always recommend it.

Only thing that worries me is that from this time last year, thanks to my kids, I had a cold every other week until january.

If I call them today, I’m worried they will just postpone it as they will think it’s covid, even though I am dropping in their covid test tomorrow and have had a neg pcr (it states on the private hospital website that a pcr not done through them won’t be counted and appointments will be cancelled for symptoms even with a neg pcr from elsewhere).
