Regular irregular pulse

Went for NHS health check earlier today and the nurse had to check my pulse twice and then told me it was 'regular irregular' in that it was strong for most of the minute and then seemed to stop for a second and then continue slower before going back to normal.

She asked if I had any chest pains or other symptoms, which I don't, other than sometimes I have what I thought were ectopic beats when I'm lying in bed or otherwise resting. I saw my GP about this years ago and she wasn't concerned.

She also asked if I was anxious - which I am, and more so now I know about the regular irregular pulse. She is going to let the GP know about the pulse and see whether I need an ECG but I kind of think I want one anyway. I will wait for the results of the blood tests I had has part of the health check and then get in touch, but I'm wondering whether anyone else has had this issue and what the outcome was. I am freaking out a bit about it

It sounds like she’s just felt some ectopics. Normally when you have an ectopic beat there’s a slightly longer time to the next beat and that may feel a bit like the pulse is slower.
